Dance Fever

Leesie's dance team took 1st place at the regional dance competition in Pocatello in March. They went on to compete at Lagoon nationals in May and took 2nd place.
Leesie dances under the direction of the same teacher I took from (Patty) until I graduated from high school. She is always telling me that my kid acts just like I did (of course I deny any bad behaviors). When I was in high school, Patty took us to Disneyland on a dance tour. Some of the guys on our team decided one day they were going to make my long red braided hair look like "Pippy Longstocking". So they proceeded to weave an old wire hanger into my braids and black out a couple of my front teeth with black magic marker (yummy), and I was already wearing bib overalls. Then I went skipping around Knott's Berry Farm and Disneyland looking like "Pippy Longstocking" and I can't tell you how many pictures I had to stop to pose for with tourists. haha Somewhere in Japan a bunch of tourists have pictures of me dressed like a hick, under the impression that I was part of the theme park attraction (hey, I should have got a paycheck for that...lucky we didn't get kicked out of Disneyland)...we laughed so hard the whole trip over that. Patty was mortified...I think she is still embarrassed over taking me to California. hahaha She has never taken another group on tour since then, and I am probably the reason why. haha Crazy dang teenagers anyway!
Okay, enough about me...Leesie is the dancing queen now. She is the littlest one on the far right of this group picture.
Leesie & cousin Amber.

On the front row: Leesie, Jessie, and Amber at Lagoon nationals. It's fun to see them progress each year. They used to be the little bitty dancers. They are growing so fast!

Above is a video of their dance "Pineapple Princess" in Pocatello. Leesie is on the far right for most of this dance. My little sister Jessica is 2nd from the left on the front row, and my niece Amber is front and center. Aren't they just adorable?! (People kept walking in front of me while I was recording...idiots. I had a sleeping baby on my lap or I would have moved closer to record.) The weather was insane that day. There was a massive blizzard and several inches of new snow to drive home in after they danced, but nonetheless it was a fun competition for them.

At their recital, Maddie recognized Leesie on stage and kept shouting out to her. She also kept clapping and shouting, "Yay!" in the middle of almost every dance throughout the recital. It was hilarious (to me anyway). I tried to upload their other dance "Popcorn" but the video won't come thru for some reason. It is so cute, but oh well. I have let it upload for over an hour twice now...blasted technology anyway...hehe
